Your day begins with visiting the highest active volcano in Costa Rica, Irazú. Referred to as the “Colossus” by Costa Ricans, it is the tallest of the 112 volcanoes in our country at 3432 meters above sea level. Following the volcano tour, we head to Valle de Orosi, where the Iglesia de San Jose (1743), the oldest church in use in Costa Rica, is located. We end the day with a visit to the most important Catholic Basilica of Costa Rica, due to the pilgrimage that happens every August 2nd to see “La Negrita”, the Patron Saint of Costa Rica.
